Myself and a friend of mine have been satisfied with Crucial Paradigm. I'm a Gentoo User, he runs ASP and the like. Tech support is phenominal! Billing and sales, remarkably, are slow...
They have a very diverse network backbone, etc etc. Just my 2 cents :)
BEST of luck with your business, sir. May everything go as right as it should!

Some of you may know me from this list and others such as flashcoders. I work with business software development. Now, me and some friends are thinking about doing our own web business. Fortunatelly, we have the will, we have the skills, we have the tools and a great community to help us (hint, hint). We just need a good dedicated server to host our and our clients projects. We are almost going with layeredtech.com, which seems to be a good deal.
I know that dedicated server requires much more responsability and care than a shared host. I'm also not a linux/nix expert but I'm willing to learn, I guess that's what matters.
We have thought about giving up... you see, even though it seems so close, on our country (Brazil) things are harder as our currency is not as powerful as the USD and then we analise about the risks and think that maybe it would be better to keep with our current lifestyle. But at the same time, I think that if we don't take the risks, we actually don't **live**, we just exist.
I'm very excited. This is the work I have always dreamt of (currently I'm employee at a ERP company). I would like some advice from more experienced web developers about the subject, I'm sure this will be valuable (if not the key) to our success.
Cheers.
Marcelo.
