Hi Chris,
Thanks a lot for the uplifting comments about my site,
http://www.everytrail.com. I wanted to clarify some
things you said.
"It would also be extremely cool if you could get
topographical maps in
there somehow as well. Maybe team up with Garmin or
one of the other
GPS makers to provide vector topographical maps. Also
a web based
mapping program for outdoor adventures that allows one
to set way
points, routes, etc... on the website and have those
download to your
GPS would be absolutely killer."
- Topographical maps is exactly what we use. Was it
hard to notice?
You can zoom closer to the surface of the ground
or zoom out and
get the larger view.
- Thanks for the point about Flash-based maps.
Interesting idea. I
wonder if the download would take a lot longer?
- "Also a web based mapping program for outdoor
adventures that allows one to set way points, routes,
etc... on the website and have those download to your
GPS would be absolutely kille"
So you're saying do the oppossite of what we currently
do? Have the trail be recorded on someone's mobile
device whether it's a phone, pda, etc.?
- My final question is can anyone try out the site and
log a trail? See how you like the process? Just go
to http://www.everytrail.com and you should be able to
get started in a few minutes.
Please feel free to give more feedback. This is
really helpful. Thanks every one.
