Well, I originally switched because at the time FlashDevelop -> Ant -> mxmlc
-> swf was painfully slow. So I switched to Flex Builder. Then, I didn't
like switching back and forth between Eclipse and FlashDevelop for AS3 and
AS2, so I started using FDT. Of course, FlashDevelop is now much faster with
the AS 3 stuff, from what I hear. And I agree that FD has some features I
miss in Eclipse, but also vice versa. Can't wait to see FlashDevelop 3.

That's great Danny. I must admit, although I was the FlashDevelop poster
child, I've switched over to Flex Builder and FDT. But it sounds like it's
come a long way in just the last month or so. Might have to check it out
again.

I wonder why you have switched to the "black side"*, Keith?

*just kidding, FDT is a killer app too, unfortunately it's way too expensive
... btw, I find FD better on some aspects.

I started exploring Flex2 again after getting enthused by Apollo, I don't
have a huge amount of commercial flash related work on so didn't really want
the builder cost at the moment. Plus when I was using the beta a while back
you end up spending all your time in the code view anyhow.

FD isn't quite up to FB standard yet but the rate it's coming along I can
see it being a serious contender in a very short space of time without
having to wait ages for intermitant FB releases. I think this is one project
where we can all really benefit from one of the major open source advantages
- want a feature, request it or develop it and have it. Lets hope so anyway

Having just got up and running Flex2/AS3 development with FlashDevelop I
thought I'd write a step by step tutorial as I had a couple of issues
getting it running myself.

If anyone's interested heres a noobs guide to AS3/Flex2 development using
FlashDevelop:

Any comments/feedback much appreciated.
