Thanks, that was very helpful. Thanks to Gert-Jan as well for the
suggestion.

One of the nice things about evaluating screencast software is most of
them show a screencast of using the software itself.

CamStudio (http://www.camstudio.org/) is GPL, and looks good (Windows
only). But for the moment I will try Wink: it seems to have the
functions I need (*), works on linux and is easy to use so far.

*: Except export to a movie format (AVI, MOV, MPG, WMV) that YouTube
will accept. But that is not a show-stopper.
