I think the list is turning to, bit of a chat room, yet most of the replies are being very beneficial, wether in the knowledge or the references they're giving.

I am constantly exposed to problem-> solution, thanks to this list. We don't all use realtime video encoding, or red 5, etcc everyday, and even if we do, we don't go through the same process or scenarios as others do, so Being exposed to all those solutions are quite usefull for when we find ourselves in that same situation.

Lets keep Whatever grows and feeds The community, instead of rejection i'd say redirection. Noobs or not, we all are part of the open source community that will contribute one day or another, in the best way we could.

Well, it's better to have some traffic to keep the community alive, than none.

Anyway, the list has changed a lot. I had (and still have) an incredible respect for the osflash list - it was the only place I can remember where we could discuss best practices, design patterns, frameworks, etc on the flash platform. Everytime there was an email about best practices, there were dozens of constructive replies from what I consider some of the best flash gurus out there. But this was some years ago. I might say that there was one osflash list before Flex 2, and another after... Not better or worse - just different.

OK, is it just me or has this list mostly (or at least partially)
changed focus/purpose from a Flash platform open source discussion and questions list to a general Flash/Flex/Actionscript question and answer list? Seems there are several on this list who don't understand what
this list was set up for. If everyone's cool with that, I am - but
there are plenty of other lists out there for these kind of questions. I
myself am guilty of responding to general flash questions here and
there, but I think if we respond to people, instead of diverting them to
a more appropriate list, they will keep coming back for more. Do we
want to allow this or no?

For those of you on this list who didn't realize this list was intended
for open source questions related to the Flash platform (hence the
name), no worries, but I would suggest you subscribe to one of the
following lists instead:

Flash_Tiger on Yahoo
Flexcoders on Yahoo
Flashcoders on chattyfig.figleaf.com
Flashnewbies on chattyfig.figleaf.com
Adobe forums, Flashkit, Actionscript.org, etc.

For the other people here interested in Open source flash topics, what
are your thoughts?
