The only question that I niggles at me is that of the orientation of
the axis of rotation. This only affects axial billboards. What type
of billboards are there in your model?
I only use axial billboards. And I use tons of them. They are placed out
with different orientations in the scene.
The visual result with FSTDSS-optimization seems now to be identical to
default optimization and no optimization.
But, my billboards (before optimization) are always using 0,0,0 as
position, 0,0,1 as axis and 0,-1,0 as normal. It is their parent
matrixtransform that decides their orientation. (the flt-plugin approach)
However, a quick test, where I modified the axis of the billboard gave the
same result with FSTDSS optimization and default optimization.
What are your concerns about the orientation of the billboard axis?
