I've merged your changes and my tests here suggest that things are still working fine.
Well, I was looking for comments as I don't know what the implications are in all cases. What have you tested? Are we sure we want to merge this if it may break something we just can't test?
I tried you link but it doesn't seem to be accessible right now. Could you open it up so I can test against it?
