Is your time freeing up to be able to review Colin's submission and adapt it with your above suggested change for determining big/little endian support? I could dive into doing this myself but don't yet feel 100% confident in your intent with various classes in the new serializers so would like you input. If you don't have time yet I can do another review and see if I can make the appropriate changes to Colin's submission to provide the support for different endian.
