We will not use the (MPI) OpenFlight API. All code will be open source and contributed back to the core OSG distribution, licensed under the OSGPL. -Paul

May I ask if the work you are doing is using the OpenFlight API? _____ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Paul Martz Sent: Monday, September 03, 2007 5:12 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [osg-users] Planned: OpenFlight Exporter Hi all -- If you attended the OSG BOF at SIGGRAPH, then you know that Bob Kuehne and I are working to develop an OpenFlight export plugin for OSG that will allow OSG-based apps to write OpenFlight files. I'm pleased to announce that the design work is complete and has been approved, and we're moving forward with the implementation phase. A press release follows. Paul Martz Skew Matrix Software LLC http://www.skew-matrix.com <http://www.skew-matrix.com/> 303 859 9466 Skew Matrix and Blue Newt Enter OpenFlight Exporter Implementation Phase Louisville, Colorado, and Ann Arbor, Michigan September 3, 2007 As was announced at the SIGGRAPH '07 OSG BOF, Blue Newt Software and Skew Matrix Software have been contracted to develop an OpenFlight export plugin for OpenSceneGraph (OSG). Once complete, the plugin will be contributed back to the OSG community for inclusion in the OSG distribution. This software will give OSG applications the ability to export their scene graphs as OpenFlight files. Supported OSG and OpenFlight features will be comparable to the features supported by the current OpenFlight import plugin. The export plugin will support OpenFlight versions 15.7, 15.8, and 16.1. The design phase of the OpenFlight export plugin is complete and has been approved by the client, who wishes to remain anonymous. Further information will be posted to the OSG Users Email list as the implementation phase progresses. The plugin should be fully implemented in Q1 2008. The OpenFlight export plugin is one of many targeted OSG development projects that Blue Newt and Skew Matrix have been contracted to develop. Paul Martz, Skew Matrix president, demonstrated another project at the OSG BOF, a beta version of OpenGL Occlusion Query support in OSG. Blue Newt and Skew Matrix are working with several companies and government agencies on targeted OSG development projects, and more information will be posted to the OSG Users email list as it becomes available. Blue Newt Software LLC and Skew Matrix Software LLC offer a variety of products and services including training, books, custom development, and support contracts for customers using OpenSceneGraph.
