What I get is the basic "This application has encountered a problem  
and needs to close, please tell Microsoft about this problem" dialog.  
(it always made me laugh that Microsoft would want to know that my  
little app segfaulted... :-) )

My CPU is an AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+, which definitely supports SSE.  
Even then, the debug version is probably not compiled with SSE  
optimizations, so that doesn't make any difference.

T get this:

And then it crashes.
