I don't think it's good to only work with the latest 
versions on all libraries. You wouldn't be able to install 
OSG on an older OS that would have cmake 2.4 without 
upgrading first to cmake 2.6

I think it's better to be as much compatible as possible 
with older libraries. Unless some new absolutely terrific 
feature is provided, but I can't think of any such thing 
from a support infrastructure as cmake.

My 2 cents: OSG should support cmake 2.4.x as long as 
possible.
