Lou, The first thing I notice is that you are specifying the elevation file over and over, which is unnecessary. Secondly, I have had problems with GDAL opening multiple ECW files at once - it can run out of memory and freeze up. If they are small enough to convert to TIFs, try that and see what happens. -gw
