Yes there is an OpenGL ES underway.  I've seen some video footage of
quite a big town model running on an embedded system so it does look
quite well advanced.   I do have a code drop based on a 2.3.x dev
release, but haven't yet had a chance review it.

It's likely to take quite a bit of work to get things integrated
really cleanly, especially as I'd like to start thinking about how
support OpenGL ES 1.x, OpenGL ES 2.x and OpenGL 3.x paths as well as
maintain existing OpenGL 1.1 to OpenGL 2.1 support.  The OpenGL ES
port will inform this work.
