Do you mean like this:

 osgviewer cow.osg --3d-sd

We stands for 3d spherical display ;-)

What this viewer configuration does set up 6 slave camera to render
the 6 faces of a cube map, then renders this cube map texture in a
final slave Camera that acts a full window HUD using a mesh that
provides the cube map normals to obtain the correct texture
coordinates for the distortion required.  This particular
configuration was comissions by Puffer Fish that use it for 3D
rendering on there spherical displays:
