You have to be careful what you mean by culling: in your example code you're turning off node culling (OSG functionality; it shouldn't be necessary to do this) but the problem you're seeing sounds like it's caused by (not) culling facets (OpenGL functionality).
When you turn off depth-testing in can happen that the front-facing polygons are overdrawn by the back-facing polygons (since depth isn't tested). Have you turned on face culling (GL_CULL_FACE)?
