At the start of this thread you are new to OSG, but now say you are wanting to use OSG-1.0, this version is very old now, OSG-2.8.1 is a far far better place to start from, not only in the software more mature and feature complete, the docs and vast majority of users are centered around OSG-2.x, so learning about an out of date version of the OSG will cause more problems not just for you but others that you would want to help you through the process of learning to use the OSG effectively.
