OSG-2.9.x is pretty compatible with OSG-2.8.x so you should be able to just move up. You could copy osgPresentation, the p3d plugin and present3D apps into OSG-2.8.x without problem other than the effort to do the port and keep it up to date. Just moving to OSG-2.9.x would be *far* less work. The other thing it to be patient. OSG-2.10 will come out in the not too distant future, and anyway these training materials are my training materials for live presentation, they aren't written for the way you want to use them - i.e as offline reference materials.
