A GTX275 is a really good card :-) For most 3D apps even mid range cards are more than adequate these days. I even use one on my main dev machine simply because it is low enough power output means it does need a fan so it's silent, ahhh the bliss of quite office :-) In your case I kinda doubt you'll be stressing a mid range card, even the GTX275 will be overkill and will be sitting idle most of the time. > One more question, why VLC does not offer an OSG interface when I guess OSG > should be the fastest and also is cross platform. Can't answer this one. The OSG has a ffmpeg plugin in svn/trunk and the 2.9.x series so you can use this, it performs pretty well and is cross platform.
