Hello,

I am new to osg, and it has been a while since I have done C++. I have an
interest in 3d programming, and was hoping to work through the osg tutorials.
My day job is as a Java developer, and I work mainly on the Eclipse IDE at
work. I saw a tutorial on setting up osg to work in eclipse, so I thought that
eclipse would be a good choice for me in order to minimize the learning curve
of working with osg.

However, setting up an eclipse osg development environment has been very
difficult. I went through the tutorial on osg's site, and after spending a
very frustrating Friday night going through it, I realized that there is a more
up-to-date version on someone's blog. I followed that very closely, but am
getting errors, and the blog owner is not responding to my questions. I am
ready to hand in the towel on eclipse with osg, and here are my questions for
the experts.

What is the most ideal environment with osg?

If you think I should give up on Eclipse, should I attempt Visual Studio, or
Linux? I have Ubuntu on my machine.

Am I skipping over some important foundational knowledge? If so, is there a
book or tutorial that I should use to get up-to-speed in order to be able to
work the osg tutorials?

Thank you!
Frank
