I did something like this. Unfortunately I cannot disclose the source. But during this work I cleared the path for use of texture arrays for shadow map comparison. So yes its doable. With recent glFramebeufferTexture additon texture arrays seem like good match for one pass cascaded shadow map rendering using geometry shaders....
