But using a set up such as that, I am basically transmitting the entire video
feed to the remote screen.
I am interested in sending the rendering of only 1 of those 3 viewports(1 view
from the compositeViewer), not all 3. (as seen in the attachment below). With
that being the case, does it make more sense to use the image based approach ?

Or can it still be achieved using the method in the earlier post ?
If your master PC has two VGA/DVI/... outputs (as most graphics cards
now do) you could easily have a first monitor that would have the three
viewports for the local viewer, and only render the bottom left viewport
on the second "monitor" (which would be transmitted to a remote
monitor). Essentially, the box Torben linked to takes a VGA output and
sends it to the remote box, so anything you can do with a separate video
output will work the same with that.
