You can safely pass it any way you want, by value or by reference.

It normally makes the most sense to pass by const reference or
reference though as it's far more efficient as you are only passing a
pointer to the objects which is 4 or 8 bytes, rather than the whole
Vec3 which will be 12 bytes.
