Hi Henry,

Terrapage database tend to built with very aggressive LOD range
settings so that the tiles cull out even when you aren't that far
away.  The default position that the osgviewer places you at start up
is placed far enough away to view the whole database, but alas if this
is beyond the range of those aggressive LOD range then you want see
your tiles till you zoom in closer.

With VirtualPlanetBuilder and osgEarth they both generated paged
database that have proper fallback tiles that can seen even at far
distances, and much better balanced for modern computers - whereas
Terrpage databases tend to built for hardware with much lower
capabilities and with overly aggressive LOD settings.
