Billboards present large advertisements to passing pedestrians and drivers. Today it is estimated that the average individual is bombarded with more than 5,000 advertisements every single day. With such an overabundance of advertising, people have begun to mentally tune out advertising that they consider clutter. That means that in order to get your message across to your intended audience you have to really do something to make it stand out from the competition (http://www.emeraldoutdoor.com/). Outdoor advertising reaches its audience as an element of the environment. Unlike newspaper, radio or TV, it doesn't have to be invited into the home. And it doesn't provide entertainment to sustain its audience.
