The OSG provide a full range of culling mechanism, the key one is view frustum culling. All you need to do is build a well balanced scene graph and the OSG will cull it efficiently. Building an efficient scene graph is the task you need to focus on, this topic is a huge one so I'd recommend spending some time looking through the archives on the topic and also reading the OSG books.
