Ah yes, I have seen this bug before. I think I have solved this by
doing a completely clean build - i.e. I nuked the build folder,
configured CMake with clang from scratch and then it worked. If you
try to change the compiler on an existing build to clang, it will go
into that endless loop.
Simply use a clean build directory parallel to the existing one (for
gcc) is the cleanest and best solution. Once you set the compiler with
the first cmake run you can use both build directories without changing
CC and CXX env vars.
