Hi Shyguy,

The light is ON when starting the osgviewer. Pressing the L-key will actually 
disable the light. Instead you will only see pure vertex colors and texture 
colors.

The reason that your model looks dark when light is enabled is the material 
settings on your model. Try to raise the ambient and diffuse values on the 
material. (Often when I see this it is caused by models exported from 3D studio 
max, which for some reason tends to set ambient material setting to 0).
