I hope that you realize that you will not get any security with this, it
will be at most an obfuscation - even though if you use some proprietary
data format, if your application can read it, I can probably do so as
well. Of course, whether I will spend time reverse engineering it
depends on the value of the data inside.

Even if you would use encryption you would have to provide the key - the
application has to be able to read the data and decrypt them before use.
Thus the key is recoverable and the scheme vulnerable. This is the same
misguided idea as DRM for music and other "content" - it has been proven
 that it cannot work. It could only deter casual pirate but not a
determined thief. I wouldn't rely on something like this for really
valuable data.
