Are you looking at the osg site or the nps site? The nps site is more current - should work fine with 1.0. http://www.nps.navy.mil/cs/sullivan/osgtutorials/.

It should be possible to port it to 1.0 or 1.1 quite easily. Perhaps either the author or a member of the commuity can pitch in. Alternatively have a look at the OSG examples, there are number of GLSL examples, and OpenSceneGraph-Data has a few as well - look for the *_glsl.osg files Robert.
