Unfortunately, try to deal with 3D artists swearing by tools like Max or Maya :( The perception "free" = "crap" or "Not made by Autodesk/Alias" = "crap" is unfortunately very strong among those people, even though they never saw the other tool. It is not just about Blender, there are some other packages good for specific tasks but these people will simply never hear about them. They usually do not care about obnoxious licensing (did you see the list of reserved rights for Max? Such as the right to audit you whenever Autodesk wants and you even have to reimburse them for it???), ridiculous prices, mandatory license "renewals" (or rather extortion) and the software being general pain in the back. I remember quite well the surprise of our designer when I have shown her the Blender demo reel from past SIGGRAPH - she was always saying that Blender is junk, even though she never used it. I guess she had a bit different view afterwards, even though she kept using her Max. The consequence is that if I want models, I have to deal with the output of these folks - meaning filters, exporters, converters and ideally everything idiot-proof because people are able to mess up/ignore even completely clear instructions.
