Better stats collection of what happening in the OpenGL pipeline would certainly help, but alas such support isn't widely exposed.
I've just checked in a preliminary set of tools for doing pipe statistics into Producer. These are pretty much Nvidia specific right now from what I can tell and are sure to break builds out there, so please be forewarned and beware.
I've got to cut things short now and run, but tomorrow I'll clean things up. If you aren't brave, don't cvs update until further testing happens.
