Hello Robert,
> in open source you can't "volunteer" others on your behalf.
I understand that, sorry if my comments sounded like that was what I was
suggesting...
I just thought since OSG is a pretty big project, there might be some core
developer assigned to make sure things build on a given platform and makes
binary packages for each official release. Or even better, there could be some
automation to do this at each release. ODE www.ode.org is one project that I
know does this. Perhaps you would be interested in the details of how they do
it? Jason Perkins on the ODE mailing list is the one who maintains the
automatic builds, and I am sure he would be glad to share that knowledge with
you.
I'd gladly volunteer but I don't yet feel confident that I know enough about OSG
to be able to troubleshoot build errors in a short enough timespan after an
official release. Someday perhaps, if I end up using OSG with my current and
future projects and gain confidence in my skills as a result, I'll be able to
help out on that front.
Right now I'm still just exploring what OSG can do for me and how I can use it
in my specific projects.
