could it be that this might have something to do with your "fix" to that
GL_EXTENSION - Thing? Would not "always return true" lead to problems
with simpler graphics-cards?
On the other hand it seems strange that this occurs in conjunction with
fragment-shaders.

I have exactly the same error (segfault) with the osgPrerender example
except this three lines.
FRAGMENT glCompileShader "" FAILED
glLinkProgram "" FAILED
GraphicsContextImplementation::realize
witch doen't appear in this example.
My question is : What is the best solution to avoid a segfault in all
case ...?
