Out of your original list, gang, horde, and sect are quite amusing, but
what about osg-backstage? True, I'm going with the rock-star analogy
rather that the ship analogy, but it's fairly descriptive.
The most descriptive one I could think of at the Highland Gathering
was osg-dogsbodies :-)
I'm not sure how far that expression will travel round the work though!
