cow.osg is in the OpenSceneGraph-Data distribution, you'll find a link to it from the
openscenegraph.org download pages.
cube.osg isn't a standard OSG example that I can test against, so I'd appreciate it you could try the cow.osg and take a screenshot.

I am using setSceneData, but I had to add my own version of that one as well for some reason, because when I try to use the one that should already be there it doesn't work.
I've recommend trying the other osgsimpleviewer examples.
