I'll raise my hand and admit I implemented light point systems in the old
loader some time ago. I don't have much time to dig back into either loader
these days.

The light point stuff is pretty straightforward, so I'd recommend digging
into the code yourself and trying to code up a fix for the behavior you're
seeing.
