I can reproduce this under GLUT.  I think its probably down to the
GLUT example passing on the escape to the Viewer which switches itself
off, but GLUT itself hasn't killed itself, and stay in its main loop.
This should be easy to fix, will first need to learn a bit more GLUT
though...

Well I tried to recreate the problem today but couldn't but I think I
have spotted the failure mechanism - the glutDestroyWindow() was being
called, but the viewer would have stayed alive and on destruction
would have attempted to clean itself up.  I have added unref'ing of
the viewer in before the gluDestroyWindow call and checked it in.

Could you let me know how things are working under windows now?
