Thanks for hunting this down for me. I'm afraid I'm still having trouble finding my way in all the KDE settings (I mostly develop on Windows and up until now, the only time I really used Linux was with a few home servers without X at all...)

[...] the correct place where to look for the settings in KDE 3.5 is in KDE control panel (kcontrol):

Peripherals->Display

On the tab "Multiple monitors" you need to disable "Enable multiple
monitor fullscreen support" and your problem should be solved.

Of course, maximization of any window will now maximize across both
screens, so it is still preferable to explicitly specify the window size
for OSG instead of this window manager hack.

With Robert's recent addition of env vars and command line arguments, this should be possible.
