Plans Unveiled for Major National Conference on Intelligence

Featuring well over 50 seminars, sessions and special events, the National
Intelligence Conference and Exposition (INTELCON) will debut next February
8-10 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, just outside of Washington in
Arlington, Virginia. Totally focused on all aspects of intelligence, and the
relationship between intelligence and national security, its goal is to
annually bring together intel professionals and members of Congress in an
informal setting on neutral ground to provide educational enhancement and
discuss common issues.

Veteran intelligence specialist and media analyst John Loftus is directing
the INTELCON Program, supported by a Program Advisory Group of notable
figures within the intelligence arena and a Community Liaison Committee
whose members reach out to intelligence and intel-related professionals in
both the public and private sectors. Conference Chairman, Dr. William Saxton
- who also founded the very first computer/IT conference for the Federal
government - notes that "the willingness of so many top intel interests to
come forward to volunteer their time to insure the success of this event
underscores their recognition that such a unifying event is needed."

Based upon a theme of "Widening the Intelligence Domain," which acknowledges
that intelligence today embraces more than the civilian and military
agencies of the federal intelligence community, the Conference offers five
two-day Program Tracks - Federal Civilian, DOD/Military, State and Local Law
Enforcement, Business, and Private Sector. In addition, there will be eight,
full-day Professional Enhancement Seminars titled Trends in Intelligence
Technology, Role of Congress in Intelligence Oversight, Finding and Keeping
Intelligence Specialists, Reforming the Intelligence Community, View from
Abroad, Sharing Intelligence, Getting the Public Involved, and Political,
Policy and Legal Issues.

According to Program Director Loftus, "the Tracks on days two and three are
geared toward practical, nuts-and-bolts solutions in specific application
areas, whereas the Professional Enhancement Seminars on the opening day are
meant to appeal to the more general interests of attendees across the
board." Also planned are two Plenary sessions - Counterintelligence Methods
and Applications; and, How to Find and Leverage Open Source Intelligence.
Luncheon and Keynote addresses by prominent speakers, and special briefings
for Congress, will round out the jam-packed Program.

Concurrent with the Program Tracks on the latter two days of the three-day
event, there will be a full-scale vendor exposition that will feature a wide
spectrum of companies and products particularly relevant to intelligence
interests. Its organizer is Federal Business Council of Annapolis Junction,
Maryland which is also handling INTELCON's overall production.
