Indonesia removed from money laundering list: minister
JAKARTA, Feb. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Indonesia has been excluded from the
list of non-cooperative countries and territories by the Financial
Action Task Force (FATF) on money laundering, Trade Minister Mari
Pangestu said Friday.
"I was told by Bank Indonesia (the central bank)... Indonesia has
been excluded from the list of non-cooperative countries," Mari was
quoted Friday Detikcom online news service as saying.
She claimed the exclusion was a result of intense lobbying by four
Indonesian ministers in key FATF members.
Indonesia has been in the non-cooperative list since 2001 alongwith
Nauru, Nigeria, Myanmar, the Philippines and the Cook Islands.
Mari is among the ministers deployed by President Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono to lobby member countries of the FATF. She recently visited
Britain and current FATF head France for that purpose. Enditem
