It has been reported that an assailant who opened fire at a guesthouse
at the summer resort capital, Shrinagar in India's Cammu Kashmir state,
died and the other was injured.

Police revealed that the passengers who were staying at the local
historic guesthouses for the bus trips, which were due start tomorrow
running between India and Pakistan, are all safe. Four of the passengers
were reportedly wounded.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Foreign Minister Hursit Kasur condemned the attack
in a statement he made to reporters in Islamabad.

A Pakistani official said that the attack would not affect the start of
the bus tour operations.

The separatist organizations: "Al Nasiri", the "Independence for Kashmir
Movement," "Ferzandan I Millet," and "Al Arifi" called newspaper offices
in Shrinagar and claimed responsibility for the attack against the
passengers, which were part of bus coach tours between Pakistan and
India.

These organizations, which have been struggling against the Indian
administration since 1989, had threatened to stop the coaches; the
passengers had been taken into the protection of the guesthouse and
remain there under tight security.

As part of the steps towards the peace between New Delhi and Islamabad
that began last year, the two countries had planned to operate the coach
service. The coaches will be operated between Shrinagar and
Muzafferabad.
