U.S. renews warning about possible terrorist attacks overseas WASHINGTON The State Department said Tuesday the United States continues to face the possibility of terror attacks against U.S. citizens and interests overseas.
It said in a "Worldwide Caution" that there has been no change from previous warnings about the possibility of al-Qaida attacks in Europe, Asia, Africa or the Middle East. "These attacks may employ a wide variety of tactics to include assassinations, kidnappings, hijackings and bombings," the statement said. Extremists may elect to use conventional or unconventional weapons, it said. Possible targets, it said, include high-profile sporting events, residential areas, business offices, clubs, restaurants, hotels, places of worship, schools, public areas and locales where Americans gather in large numbers, including during holidays.
