Palestinian Lies About Brother's Terror Vow
Rochester Grocer Pled Guilty To Deceiving FBI

(CBS/AP) ROCHESTER, N.Y. A Palestinian immigrant living in Rochester has
pleaded guilty to charges that he lied to the FBI to try to conceal his
brother's vow to become a suicide bomber in Israel.

Mohamed Subeh was scheduled to go on trial Friday for giving false
statements to federal agents at Rochester's airport in 2003. Instead, he
pleaded guilty late Thursday to a felony count of concealing a material
fact from the FBI.

He faces up to six months in prison or probation when he's sentenced in
April.

The 43-year-old father of five denied seeing a farewell letter in which
his brother indicated he was traveling home to the West Bank to join a
militant group that has claimed credit for suicide bombings in Israel.

Subeh, who owns a Rochester grocery store, found the letter and flushed
it down a toilet, then rushed to the airport in a vain attempt to stop
his brother from leaving. That led to his being questioned by the FBI,
during which he allegedly made false statements about the letter.
