LTTE attacks, "cowardly acts of terrorism" says Japan

While the Sri Lankan government reaffirms its total commitment to a peaceful
settlement in the North and East, these deliberate attacks by the LTTE
targeting innocent common people are condemned as "cowardly acts of
terrorism", a statement issued from the Japanese embassy said.

The Embassy also drew a major warning towards the terrorist outfit that such
incidents must not be repeated in the future. Japan is also a member of the
Co-chairs along with Norway, EU and the United States which are the major
donors in the development related projects in the country.

"The LTTE are losing their strength in the East. Because of this, they are
targeting innocent civilians", said the military spokesperson Brig. Prasad
Samarasinghe.

Suicide bombing have become the hallmark of LTTE's genocide campaign in the
island nation. Meanwhile, pro-LTTE media quoted terrorist agents denying any
responsibility on the carnage of 21 civilians in the outskirts of Colombo,
recently.

Defence officials said that these denials from the LTTE are no surprise, as
it has been used as a strategy to suppress mounting International pressure
for decades. Fifteen years later Anton Balasinghm, a prime LTTE agent
admitted the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, as
a "monumental tragedy" in its course for separatism.
