Japan grants Syria USD 89 million to empower women

DAMASCUS, Jan 31 (KUNA) -- The Japanese government granted Syria 89 
million U.S. dollars to help the latter enhance the role of women in 
society.

A document on the grant was signed here by Syrian Minister of Labor and 
Social Affairs Dayala al-Haj Aref and Japan's Ambassador to Syria Masaki 
Konieid.

During the signing ceremony, Aref asserted the importance of partnership 
between the government and civil society institutions in the field of 
woman empowerment, in order to maximize woman role in serving the society.

For his part, Komieid highlighted the importance of the grant to Syria's
