Last year, you were among the first to call for justice for these brave American heroes. Of course, when you did, some of the elites in Washington scoffed at you. Some -- who did not even know the facts of the case -- said you didn't have your facts straight! Some said that cooler heads should prevail... that you should not rush to judgment! Some even said that the over-zealous prosecution by U.S. District Attorney Johnny Sutton may have been justified! But you stuck to your guns AND NOW, the elites in Washington D.C. are coming around! There is very strong bi-partisan support in both Houses of Congress for Compean and Ramos. And just recently, The Washington Times issued an editorial demanding the release of Compean and Ramos and implied that there is, in fact, something very rotten in the State of Texas: "The Ramos/Compean prosecutions are but one in a series of questionable ones undertaken against law enforcement personnel who used force against criminals or illegal aliens by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton..." The Washington Times article goes on: "There is a growing, bipartisan understanding in Congress that Ramos and Compean do not belong in prison. Lawmakers ranging from conservative Republicans like Mr. Rohrabacher and fellow California Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter to liberal Democrats like Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California and Rep. Bill Delahunt of Massachusetts have raised objects to the incarceration of Ramos and Compean. The president should correct this oversight now and pardon the men so they can be home with their families for Christmas."
