Mogadishu: Several mortars landed inside
the Somali presidential palace during a news conference
announcing the Somali prime minister's move to the capital,
Mogadishu, on Sunday.

"At least five mortar rounds have been fired at the
president's house, where the prime minister is now staying, butthey missed,"
a presidential aide told reporters on condition ofanonymity. He did not know
of any casualties.

Somalia's parliament picked Prime Minister Nur Hassan
Hussain in November to replace his unpopular predecessor Ali Mohammad Gedi,
who quit last year over a feud with President Abdullahi Yusuf.

Hussain told journalists at the airport that he and his team of 18 ministers
moved from the relatively safe city of Baidoa to Mogadishu toconcentrate on
security and reconciliation.

"We will be engaged in reconciliation ... We will adopt a
national system and try to secure Mogadishu by talking to the
rebels," he said.
