IS UUCSA A SECRET SOCIETY? Friday, 16 April 2010 01:00 | 23 Rabiuth Thaani 1431 – 9 April 2010 The so-called ‘United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA), a purely paper body with no Islamic or community service to its credit, and floundering in meetings of futility, has degenerated into a secret society. While this body claims to represent the Muslim community of South Africa, it understands the hollowness of its own claim, hence it engages in clandestine meetings. Hitherto its activities are confined to futile meetings, passing ineffective resolution which UUCSA is unable to give practical expression. The latest secret act UUCSA has planned is to hold a secret meeting with the Minister of Justice & Constitutional Development on the proposed MPL bill which the Muslim community had resoundingly rejected in view of the anti-Islam and kufr provisions which the bill embodies. UUCSA, without consulting the broader Muslim community whom it claims to be representing, has quietly written a letter to the Minister of Justice seeking an ‘urgent’ meeting to discuss the MPL issue with the view of getting the haraam kufr bill forced down the throats of the Muslim community. The anti-Shariah bill was rejected resoundingly by the greater majority of the Muslim community. UUCSA is now planning to slip the bill clandestinely into the law-making process. Towards this end UUCSA is labouring for an ‘urgent’ meeting with the Minister of Justice. UUCSA pretends to be the representative of the Muslim community of South Africa. This claim is blatantly false. Despite its preposterous and sweeping claim, UUCSA has failed to consult the Muslim community of South Africa whom UUCSA hallucinates it represents regarding the ‘urgent’ meeting it is seeking with the Minister of Justice & Constitutional Development. What right does this mythical representative of the Muslim community have to mislead the authorities by arranging a secret meeting where vigorous attempts will be made to deceive the Minister into the belief that the request for the kufr MPL bill is the wishes of the whole Muslim community of South Africa? UUCSA has absolutely no mandate to speak on behalf of the Muslim community. There is no single organization in South Africa who can claim to represent the entire Muslim community. UUCSA lacks consensus in even its own ranks. The Jamiatul Ulama KZN who is a senior executive member of UUCSA is opposed to the MPL bill. It was precisely on account of the Jamiat’s opposition that the other members of UUCSA had arranged to secretly meet the previous Minister of Justice, Mr.Enver Surty in Cape Town. Only after the meeting was held did the Jamiatul Ulama KZN discover from the media of the meeting. At the meeting with Mr.Surty, UUCSA had portrayed the picture of ‘consensus’ when it lacked consensus in even its own ranks, leave alone the massive opposition of the Muslim community to the MPL bill. The kufr MPL bill prepared by a tiny group of murtaddeen (the Project Committee 59) is unadulterated kufr. It is in violent conflict with the Divine Shariah. It was rejected by the Muslim community. It will again be resolutely opposed and rejected. It is the Waajib obligation of all Muslims to make it known to the government with the greatest of clarity that Muslims reject the MPL bill. Muslims –individuals and organizations – are urged to write letters of protest and dissociation to the Minister of Justice. Make known your feelings and views regarding this unacceptable bill of kufr. It is the duty of every Muslim –male and female – to defend the sacred Shariah of Islam which is being mutilated by men who have deviated from Siraatul Mustaqeem. Make your voice heard. Write a letter of objection/protest/dissociation to the Minister of Justice so that he is not misled by the UUCSA clique who is perspiring to get the haraam, kufr MPL bill imposed on the Muslim community. Understand well that Allah Ta’ala has finalized and perfected his Shariah during the very era of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). No one should be allowed to tamper with the immutable Shariah of Allah Azza Wa Jal. Write to the Minister of Justice that: * You reject the MPL bill * You are not in need of an MPL law to regulate your marital affairs. * You are satisfied with the Shariah * Add whatever other comments you deem appropriate.
