Barack Obama tells insensitive joke about pirates who killed four Americans . May 20th, 2011 4:05 am PT Marc Schenker <http://www.examiner.com/american-politics-in-vancouver/marc-schenker> Barack Obama <http://www.examiner.com/american-politics-in-vancouver/muslim-arrested-for- death-threat-against-barack-obama> tells insensitive joke about pirates who killed four Americans. Barack Obama has never been a president who knew much about tact. Just remember those awkward and painful remarks that he delivered after the November 5, 2009, Fort Hood terrorist shootings by Nidal Malik Hasan, where he actually gave "shout outs" to political cronies who were at the White House before he actually commented on the shootings? Obama was back with his usual dose of hefty tactlessness at a DNC event/fundraiser on May 18, which was held in Boston. Remember the four Americans who were murdered by pirates in February of this year? Well, Obama does, too, except his way of remembering the unfortunate loss of American life was by cracking some awful jokes about pirates who killed his fellow Americans. The very tasteless incident occurred just a couple of days ago <http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2011/05/obama-boston-fundraiser- speech.html> , when Obama was using the occasion to toot his own horn. When I say, "Toot his own horn," I mean that Obama shamelessly used his speaking opportunity at the event to brag about the very mediocre, at best (and that's even too generous), "accomplishments" of his administration over the last two non-prosperous years. As the president was ticking off his questionable accomplishments-taking the "fight" to Al-Qaeda <http://www.examiner.com/american-politics-in-vancouver/fox-news-juan-willia ms-says-osama-bin-laden-was-victim-of-murder> (by imposing very restrictive RoE on US soldiers) as well as letting gays serve openly in the military (giving in to the homosexual special interests)-he went one step further. He told a joke that should leave a very bad taste in your mouth. As he was continuing to brag about how busy he's been over the past couple of years with his administration's very mediocre "achievements," he turned his attention to the topic of pirates. His specific quote <http://nation.foxnews.com/culture/2011/05/18/obama-jokes-about-pirates-who- killed-americans> was: "Along the way, we dealt with H1N1 and an oil spill and pirates. Do you remember pirates? Golly. Thomas Jefferson had to deal with pirates. I thought we were past that." Keep in mind also that the crowd, full of slavish Democrats and liberals <http://www.examiner.com/american-politics-in-vancouver/seth-meyers-ridicule s-obama-at-correspondents-dinner-showing-left-s-anger> who couldn't wait to donate to a president who has failed to turn the economy around, was laughing after every sentence. It was kind of like they were programmed to laugh.simply because the liberal media told them to. However, when you read over his enormously tasteless joke, how can you condone or support laughing at that? The pirate debacle that Obama was referencing in his self-aggrandizing remarks was the severely unlucky one from just a few months ago this past February. In that extremely mishandled situation, four Americans were killed by a thuggish and murderous group of 15 Somali pirates, largely because Obama twiddled his thumbs and refused to react quickly enough or decisively enough. And now.and now.he's even making light of the incident by cracking a very tasteless joke about it?! The nerve! Obama clearly did not "deal" with the pirate situation at all, given the horrifying and lethal results. Making matters worse, the pirates who were captured-only after the four Americans were allowed to be killed, however-were given plea deals. Today, they are going to be pleading guilty to their crimes (read: terrorism), but their pleas come courtesy of plea deals they struck. It's tasteless enough when you make a sick joke about a situation where people have died. It's further tasteless when you make an insensitive joke about a situation that you helped to screw up. But it's worst of all when you are totally clueless about your insensitive joke.
