Hello, OST Colleagues: A trusted friend and colleague in sustainable development and community building has sent me the following message, and I'm at a loss to help her. If anyone on the list has a Shanghai contact for her, please send it to me directly and I'll forward it on.

Hello! I find myself in an awkward position. It's a long story, but I will be in Shanghai from July 1 - 3 this year, and at the moment I do not have a host or a place to stay when I get there. (I was invited to speak at a conference for cities, but I just found out that the dates of the conference changed, and the cost of changing my tickets is quite high). This was tacked on to the end of a trip I agreed to take to Singapore to speak at the World Cities Summit - I was stopping in Shanghai to speak to cities about how to use the Earth Charter in city planning. But apparently communication broke down between Mirian and the folks in China. *sigh* I'm wondering if you know anyone in Shanghai who might be willing to befriend an "itinerary challenged" American city planner for a couple of days? There is a major expo underway in the city, and so I'm not sure I can even find a place to stay - this weekend is a "peak period" for the expo, apparently. Anyway, I will happily follow up on any leads or introductions you can make - I'm writing to you because I know you might know someone there. As a rural Vermonter, the idea of being a tourist in a megacity is a bit intimidating. Cheers, Gwen. * * ========================================================== [email protected] ------------------------------ To subscribe, unsubscribe, change your options, view the archives of [email protected]: http://listserv.boisestate.edu/archives/oslist.html To learn about OpenSpaceEmailLists and OSLIST FAQs: http://www.openspaceworld.org/oslist
